A bit more about me
2009-2010 was my first year at Collegium, and I am very excited to be a part of the Collegium family. I moved to Pennsylvania in June 2009 after living in Michigan all my life. While in Michigan I taught middle school English at Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts. I went to college at Western Michigan University and earned my BA in Secondary English with minors in History and Communication. I earned my Master's degree April 2009 in Educational Technology.
I am a big theatre geek. I started the theatre program at Maple Street and directed 19 shows during my eight years there. I was also very active in the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. I was in front of the curtain only once though. I'd much rather be either directing, stage managing, or running some technical aspect of the show.
I have recently started researching my family's genealogy. Genealogy research is a lot more complicated than I ever thought, but it is so rewarding and interesting finding out about my ancestors. I just completed compiling the materials necessary for membership to the Society of the War of 1812 (a society for descendants of people who served in the War of 1812) I am also a direct descendent of Francis Cooke who was on the Mayflower. My next goal is to prove that ancestry and become a member of the very prestigious Mayflower Society. Getting the records necessary for membership may take several years and many hours of research, but it will be a huge accomplishment when I'm finally accepted.
